creating hdri's speed samyang v2 8mm/ sigma 8mm help

hello,
i thought i'll post here,
so im after a fisheye lens to create quick hdri's i have a full frame camera.

i just bought a samyang 8mm version 2 lens, but the image circle in the frame is cropped, top and bottom. And you have to take 4 photo's to get a full 360.

I think the sigma 8mm is a full circle on a fullframe.
Can you get way with 3 shots for 360 on sigma?

What would you guys recommend sigma or samyang?

Is this a big deal having the circle cropped top and bottom? or does this give you a more higher resolution image as the circle is abit bigger?
Thanks in advance

Hi boogotti,

I have the samyang 8mm, works well. There's a couple things you need to think about first though.

What camera body are you shooting on? A crop sensor (APS C etc) with the samyang will fill the frame.

If you get a full circle you will have less resolution, which will result in smaller panoramas (as only the circle of the sensor will be useable).

With my samyang (cropped image)on a Nikon D7000 (16mp) my max panorama (from 4 portrait around, one up for the zenith) I get a max res of 11,000 pixels horizontally.

With a full circle sigma, you will be able to get away with less shots, but less shots = less resolution.
