ND Filters
01/27/14 at 17:09:15

I'm looking to get a strong (8-10EV) ND filter for my camera to allow me to capture the full range of light when photographing into the sun.  Do you know if I want one that cuts IR light or one that would allow it through?  For some photography I know that the IR light can color the images.  Thanks.

Well, I would guess it would be better to block the ir, but I haven't seen too many nd filters around that would specifically block ir.  Most often though, if you're doing panorama work, its easier to just paint the sun in, instead of trying to get a perfect circle with filters.  I've made a couple hdr sun templates where the streaks blend in nicely with the original hdr, as you lower the exposure and eventually steps down to a yellow circle, and I can reuse them for other panoramas.
