I found today on: http://photocamel.com/forum/hdr-photography/195306-alternative-hdr-2.htmlthis answer (2 weeks old) of Paul2: "Many thanks to everyone for the comments.
In response to the questions about how the effects are achieved, there are far too many steps involved to list here. Although the process is automated, it is certainly not quick, at least not if one wants the best possible results. Really, it is all down to the speed of the computer doing the processing. If I have a batch of images to transform, I generally just leave the computer to process them while I do something else.
The general principles behind the process are taken from a video project that I have been working on for some time, but I have now found that a better way of applying the principles to single images is to combine them with certain third party effects - no, not Topaz Simplify or any of the "photo-to-cartoon" products out there, very good as they all are.
I am sorry if this all sounds a little vague, but if this kind of photo transformation is of interest to people, then I will put it out there at some stage so others can use it too."
