They all seem to be oddly couched links to gaming sites.

Gaming sites? I have no idea why you say that. ImageBam is a well known image host. The links lead to the pictures I uploaded and nothing else.

The first few times I clicked the images they opened up gaming sites. Here's my browser history, which I will ironically host at the same site:
www.imagebam.com/image/7cb03b295810142
I apologize if I implied that you knew this was happening, you were obviously unaware that this might occur.

This last check, it tried to install malware. What part of Japan were you in when you took these pics, BTW?

Thank you for the explanation. I have never seen any ads there, which must be because I use an ad-blocker (Adblock Plus for Firefox). Sorry about that.

Perhaps it would be better if a mod removed the thread.

Paul,

Interesting HDR Painting Effect on these photos.

Can you throw some light on the transformation process (the tools/filters used etc).

Links work fine for me (Safari on Mac).

Interesting take on the cartoon look. Is it the Photoshop Oil Paint filter in combination with a high contrast?

I found today on: http://photocamel.com/forum/hdr-photography/195306-alternative-hdr-2.html
this answer  Wink(2 weeks old) of Paul2:

"Many thanks to everyone for the comments.

In response to the questions about how the effects are achieved, there are far too many steps involved to list here. Although the process is automated, it is certainly not quick, at least not if one wants the best possible results. Really, it is all down to the speed of the computer doing the processing. If I have a batch of images to transform, I generally just leave the computer to process them while I do something else.

The general principles behind the process are taken from a video project that I have been working on for some time, but I have now found that a better way of applying the principles to single images is to combine them with certain third party effects - no, not Topaz Simplify or any of the "photo-to-cartoon" products out there, very good as they all are.

I am sorry if this all sounds a little vague, but if this kind of photo transformation is of interest to people, then I will put it out there at some stage so others can use it too."

Interesting process. Nothing to do with HDR but amazing effects. See also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZbpyWIWhGE&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLGTlaOE7...
