Tone-mapping gives weird purple results
07/21/13 at 01:51:40

Hello,

Thank you for making a free software like Picturenaut. It works perfectly to create HDR images, however I have a problem with the tonemapper, I tested all the available methods on different generated HDRI, but they all give me purple images. Any idea how I can fix that? Couldn't find anyone reporting that problem on the forum.

Cheers

PS: Also forgot to mention that the HDR images sometimes have wrong colors, very desaturated or with a purple / blue tint in the darks.

Ok, I think I can answer to myself after a night of testing: it's working perfectly when using jpgs, but with raw images it doesn't work all the time.

Often, what appear to be the "wrong colors" are actually the same as on the original, except much brighter. A process I use sometimes turns what look like blacks into greens. But if I boost the exposure of the original, I can then see that the green was there all the time, but was too dark to be visible to the eye.
