Trying to achieve Ground Plane reflection
02/22/12 at 07:10:00

I have a scene that has a chrome object that sits on the sIBL ground plane. I've noticed that the ground plane does not reflect in the object.

I've gone to 'V-ray Properties' in Max 2012 and checked 'Visible to GI' and 'Visible to reflections' but what happens is that the reflection just renders gray. The ground does render in that last pass but it's absent from the reflection. I think the reflection pass has already ocurred before the ground renders so it is missed.

Is there a way to enable reflections of the ground plane?

Hey Rob,

Tbh I don't have a clue, if you happen to have a solution, don't hesitate to share it! Smiley

Thanks. I hope someone who knows whether it's possible or not will weigh in.

Max doesn't have a "Matte for all secondary rays"? I think that is what make it work in Maya.
