Maya import error
01/23/12 at 19:09:35

Hi everybody. I'm setting up sIBL on Maya once again (not used it for a while) but it's acting strange.
It's giving me an error. Here's what I've done so far:

First I've installed normally with the exe. Then I've put sIBL_GUI_For_Maya.py in the %MAYA_APP_DIR%\2012-x64\script folder and modified the userSetup.mel to open the port.
In Maya the buttons are there on the shelf; sIBL_GUI 4.0.1 start from Maya, it sees the library. Then I choose a sIBL, select Mental Ray Standard template, push Output Loader Script: it sais all right "LoaderScript | 'sIBL_Maya_Import.py' output done!", then I Send to Software, it sais "LoaderScript | 'sIBL_Maya_Import.py' output done!" again, but Maya return

# Error: ImportError: No module named sIBL_Maya_Import

Any clues? Some hardcoded paths on the scripts maybe?

Hi,

It's very weird, can you do me a favor and execute this in a Maya Python Tab:

Code:
import sys
import pprint
pprint.pprint(sys.path)

It should print something like that:

Code:
['C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin',
 'C:\\solidAngle\\mtoadeploy\\2012\\scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX for Maya\\Maya 2012\\scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin\\python26.zip',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\DLLs',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\plat-win',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\lib-tk',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\site-packages',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin\\python26.zip\\lib-tk',
 u'C:/Users/KelSolaar/Documents/maya/2012-x64/prefs/scripts',
 u'C:/Users/KelSolaar/Documents/maya/2012-x64/scripts',
 u'C:/Users/KelSolaar/Documents/maya/scripts',
 'C:\\Users\\KelSolaar\\AppData\\Roaming\\HDRLabs\\sIBL_GUI\\4.0\\io\\loaderScripts']

Cheers,

Thomas

I'm sorry for my late reply (didn't recieved notification).
I think I just solved this. Maya picked an older version of the script..

My print from that command is:

Code:
['C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin',
 'D:\\Maya\\scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\MayaBonusTools2012\\scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX for Maya\\Maya 2012\\scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin\\python26.zip',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\DLLs',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\plat-win',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\lib-tk',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\Python\\lib\\site-packages',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\Maya2012\\bin\\python26.zip\\lib-tk',
 u'D:/Maya/2012-x64/prefs/scripts',
 u'D:/Maya/2012-x64/scripts',
 u'D:/Maya/scripts',
 'C:\\Program Files\\Autodesk\\MayaBonusTools2012\\python']

I don't have the
Code:
'C:\\Users\\KelSolaar\\AppData\\Roaming\\HDRLabs\\sIBL_GUI\\4.0\\io\\loaderScripts']

thing though. Should I have it also? Everything is working now, I just got two warnings
Code:
# Warning: Freeze transform with negative scale will set the 'opposite' attribute for these nodes: sIBL_feedbackShape #
# Warning: Only DAG nodes can be in a display layer.  'sIBL_ground_lambert' rejected. #

Thank you

Hi,

You should have a "similar" directory appended to your Python path but since it's ok I guess it's all good now Smiley You can safely ignore the warnings, they are usual Maya one happening during the scene setup, one is caused because I'm scaling negatively an object and another one because Maya is trying to add a shader to a layer when I add the object it's connected to.

Glad that worked out.

FYI - My lightwave script actively suppresses warning messages (because Lightwave is just as whiny as Maya sometimes). However, the downside is that all warnings stay disabled for the entire session when my script crashes before it enables them again. Including important things like "Do you really want to Quit?" or "Save all objects?" ... Thank god my script is rock-stable now and always gets to the cleanup routine Wink

Hi,

Can you try updating your Templates using the Remote Updater?
