Unable to view HDRI image
02/18/11 at 04:26:29

I have installed Picturenaut and have loaded a set of 5 images.  The software successfully processes the images, but when I try to save, I cannot view the resulting image in any of my programs (PaintShop Pro, Paint.net, PowerPoint).  I have tried every output format available with the same result.  I can see the image in Picturenaut but not in any other application.  Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

After loading your 5 images, what did you do next?

If you saved immediately, your only 4 choices of image format are OpenEXR (.EXR) , Radiance (.HDR), Portable Float Map (.PFM), and TIFF (.TIF). These are all either 16 bit, 16 bit-half data or 32 bit formats, which are not usable in the programs you mentioned.

I am going to assume you used the Image --> Tone Mapping... function. In that dialog box, you can set the output image format to 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit format. If you wish to save an image to use in the programs you mentioned, you must output your image in 8-bit format and save to TIFF (better) or JPG.

Hi, bdegroff56.
How did you load the images? Have you ever used some 3rd party
imaging toolkits
to help you? Why not try to create a professional
image viewer
to help view HDRI image? I am not so sure about whether it is the best solution to this problem. But I hope you success. Good luck.

Best regards,
Arron
