Hey, I got isIBL loaded up and I"ve got the background, key light, etc...I can see the image in the viewport, but when I render in mental ray, I'm not getting any background.. Why?

Thanks in advance,

Wish I could help you there, but Maya isn't exactly my terrain.
However, you took your original post off - please don't! It helps Volxen to see your "first look" problem, just so he knows what info needs to go into the Readme.

Hi,
I turned off the primary background visibility so it works just as a reference ... but if
you want to see it in the rendering you need to set the "primary visibility" - flag in the backgroundSphere´s render attributes to on.

I was wondering about creating a option box for background visibility as I also turn this off and on quite frequently, but I thought it shouldn´t be too hard to set the option yourself ... if you don´t get it to work post again, then I can do some screenshots ...

ok, I'm just using a sphere as a test render.

Here's what I did.

I'm using the backlot picture.

I created everything... and then checked to make sure that primary visibility was on (it was).

Here are my settings, and the render.

Thanks! So eager to get this working.

Okay, let´s see if you can get the same render Wink

That´s what I did step by step.

1. Start with a new scene.
2. Create a sphere and set it to scale 5 5 5.
3. Start sIBL with
   x create Background
   x create environment settings
   x create reflection map
   x create key light
   x show textures at resolution -> 1024
   x set render globals

   and backlot1 selected.
4. Select bgSphere_backlot1 in the outliner.
5. Set Primary Visibility to on (it should be turned off)!
6. Render with mental ray.
