Maya Importer Alpha Release 0.12a

Hi all,
if anyone wantīs to give my current version of the maya importer a test run it can be downloaded from
http://www.renderwahnsinn.de/sdr/sdr_v012a.zip.

Fixes since 0.1a:
- keylight now behaves better (still quite messy)
- delete previous setup
- set render globals
- checks for SDR env variable and the user doesnīt have to edit the script

Iīm sure there are still a lot of bugs in it, so if you come across any of them ... donīt hesitate to get in contact  Cheesy

i had also *some* problems with keylights... to be honest it was the trigonemetric behind it Tongue ..anyway i created a test jpg/sdr which helped me a lot: http://sdr.cgtechniques.com/upload/test.zip

I'm having problems getting the script to create its env... This is the error I get:

// Warning: file: C:/Documents and Settings/Kisersoze/My Documents/maya/8.5/scripts/sIBL.mel line 290: fopen: unable to open file "C:\LightSetup\apartment\" for mode  "r".


I can see the thumbnails inside of Maya, just doesn't execute...

uhmmm ... I can't speak for Volker, but my first guess would be that your directory structure isn't set up right. The zip file called sIBL-Collection.zip should be expanded as a folder called sIBL-Collection. There should be one subfolder for each set in there, but no other folders or files. Maybe some other files in your "LightSetup" folder are causing this, because from the path structure you are showing "LightSetup" would be your collection folder...

Hello,

I discovered you sIBL tool, which looks interesting, if only I could get it to work.  Tongue

I tried the script from Volxen and Blochi, and I can't get it to work.
With the 2 scripts I had to change some line in the mel, where the default library location is:
// Directory with the default sIBL-Library
    string $mySDR="H:\\sIBL\\Library\\";
I replace the "H:\\sIBL\\Library\\" by the location of the library on my workstation ( which is: D:\\New Folder\\Collection)otherwise the script would crash straight from the launch.

Then I replace the folowing link to the right one for my workstation:
image -image "H:\\SDR\\Library\\apartment\\Camels_Icon.jpg" refPic;
with
image -image "D:\\New Folder\\Collection\\apartment\\Camels_Icon.jpg" refPic;

After these two changes, I can get sIBL or SDR to launch in maya.

In the case of SDR, when I click on the desired Hdri, it disappears from the SDR window...  Shocked

In the case of sIBL, after selecting the desired hdri, i click on ''load selected'' and get the following error message:
// Warning: file: C:/Documents and Settings/user/My Documents/maya/scripts/sIBL.mel line 290: fopen: unable to open file "D:\New Folder\Collection\hdrday\" for mode  "r". // 

I checked and my path structure looks fine.

So let me know, if I am dooing something wrong...

I still can't get the application to run properly...

If someone has the scripts working, could they give step by step instructions?
I'm really interested!!!

Hi Everyone!
I came across your problem and gave the loader script a try on a different machine ...
and I have to admit I messed it up Sad
sIBL.mel was still searching for a filled called sdr at this point, thatīs why you got the error.
I still had those files in there, too, thatīs why I didnīt realize ...

Please download my latest fix here, Iīm sure Blochi will update the script in the forum soon:

Looks like the sIBL script is working, as it's loading presets from the sIBL-Collection...

I'll try making my own from various mirrorBalls, then try to light via IBL...


Are there any render settings I need to adhere to??

No, the script is able to set the mental ray settings automatically.
You just have to render with mental ray ...
